Frequently Asked Questions

What shelf life do the food and water supplies have?

Both the emergency food bars and individual water pouches are rated for a 5-year shelf life under proper storage conditions. Keep the rolling bag in a climate-controlled environment, away from direct heat and sunlight. An annual inspection ensures your supplies remain viable and ready for use.

How much does the fully packed rolling bag weigh?

The fully stocked 5-person necessity kit rolling bag is designed to be manageable for most adults. The wheels and extended handle handle the bulk of the weight during transport, making it far easier to move than a traditional backpack of equal capacity. Exact weight varies by configuration, but the rolling bag design eliminates much of the physical burden associated with carrying a large group kit.

Is this a good kit for a first-time emergency preparedness purchase?

Yes. The Necessity tier rolling bag is our best-value starting point for new preppers. It covers the three most critical survival needs — food, water, and shelter — plus basic first aid and hygiene, all in a container that is easy to store and grab quickly. As your preparedness budget grows, you can supplement this kit with additional supplies or upgrade to the Essential or Comfort tier.

What separates the Necessity tier from Essential and Comfort for 5 people?

For a family of five, the Necessity kit includes 60 water pouches, food bars, a small bandage kit, AM/FM radio, hand flashlight, emergency blankets, ponchos, warmers, and basic hygiene items. The Essential tier adds deluxe hygiene kits, a pocket knife, safety goggles, sewing kit, notepad, 30+ hour candle, 50 purification tablets, and biohazard bags. The Comfort tier further adds sleeping bags, tube tents, a 100+ piece deluxe first aid kit, work gloves, nylon rope, and a dynamo flashlight.
