Emergency Food Buckets

Food storage buckets are the most space-efficient way to store large quantities of emergency food. Sealed against moisture, pests and light, they stack neatly and can last decades in proper storage conditions. Most families keep a few buckets in a closet or garage as their emergency food baseline.

What comes in a food storage bucket?

Contents vary by brand and size, but most buckets include a mix of freeze-dried or dehydrated meals — breakfast, lunch and dinner options — along with sides, snacks and drinks. Larger buckets may contain a full 30-day food supply for one person.

Bucket kits vs. buying pouches individually

Buckets are more cost-effective per serving and simpler to store. Pouches offer more variety and portability. The best approach for most families is a combination — buckets at home for baseline coverage and pouches in bug out bags and vehicle kits.
