United States: In a move that turned diplomatic tides, President Donald Trump lauded a pivotal trade pact with the United Kingdom on Thursday, branding it “an extraordinary chapter for American prosperity.”
While addressing members of the press at the White House, Trump declared, “This alliance forged today with the UK is the maiden accord in a series of groundbreaking trade understandings my administration has meticulously orchestrated over the past month.”
“With this pact, the United States and United Kingdom join forces in recognizing that equity and mutual respect stand as the bedrock of global commerce,” Trump emphasized. “This accord shatters old limits, unlocking billions in new trade pathways for American producers—especially in agriculture—escalating access for beef, ethanol, and a panorama of rural exports from our industrious farmers, according to Fox Business.
Let's examine this "full and comprehensive" trade "deal" with the UK:

-The 10% tariffs on goods from the UK into the US remains (so no relief for taxpayers)
-It DOES include lower tariff quotas for UK steel and car exports. Note the use of the word "quotas", so essentially it… pic.twitter.com/Ev0gfIFj1o
The President further detailed a streamlined customs approach for American exports, stating, “They will be expediting the clearance of US goods, allowing shipments to flow through with remarkable swiftness.” He noted that the conclusive framework is “under meticulous finalization in the days ahead.”
Taking to Truth Social, Trump exulted, “An awe-inspiring day for America, as we seal our first truly Fair, Open, and Reciprocal Trade Accord—something our predecessors disregarded entirely.”
He continued, “Shoulder-to-shoulder with our stalwart ally, the United Kingdom, we’ve inaugurated the first historic trade pact post-Liberation Day. As a direct yield of this Deal, the United States is projected to accrue \$6 BILLION in international revenue via a 10% tariff structure, while unleashing \$5 BILLION in novel export channels for our unmatched ranchers, cultivators, and makers. This Deal fortifies homeland protection for both nations by erecting a joint Aluminum and Steel Trade Zone and instituting a safeguarded pharmaceutical corridor,” as per Fox Business.
In a gesture of transatlantic camaraderie, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer phoned into the White House amid Trump’s proclamation, hailing the development as a “truly significant accord.”
Starmer highlighted its promise to “amplify commerce between our nations, safeguard and generate employment, and crack open untapped markets.”
Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick revealed another major development, disclosing that the UK is committing to a \$10 billion procurement of Boeing aircraft.
“I’ll reserve the naming privilege for the airline itself,” Lutnick added with discretion.
